Summer Solstice Yoga

Join the Summa Health Wellness Works team on June 21 at 5:30 a.m. for rooftop yoga to celebrate the summer solstice. The yoga session will take place on the roof of the 25 Adolph Street Parking Garage on the Akron Campus.

Friends and family members of Summa Health employees are welcome to attend. No registration is necessary.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross is sponsoring a blood drive at the Summa Health Akron Campus on June 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Summa Health South Pavilion Pods A, B and C.

Use “RapidPass” to complete your pre-reading and donation questions online prior to donating blood. Donors can schedule their donation times at http://www.redcrossblood.org/ using the sponsor code “summa.”

Each donor will be entered in to a drawing for a chance to win a $50 Giant Eagle gift card.

Canoe Adventure Giveaway

Summa Health is giving away four tickets for a canoe adventure on July 8. The adventure is part of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, which starts at Nesmith Lake at 8 a.m. and ends downtown Akron.

Pride Month Activities

Pride month is celebrated every June to raise awareness of the LGBT community and commemorate the history of the movement.

Scavenger Hunt
Summa Health’s ERG, A+PLUS, will be having two virtual scavenger hunts via Summa@Work. The winner of each Virtual Scavenger Hunt will receive a $25 Starbucks gift card. The winner will be announced the week of July 3.

Here are the clues for the second scavenger hunt. Visit the Diversity Site on Summa@Work to help find the answers.

  1. What is Diversity? Describe the guiding principles.
  2. What does "DAC" Mean? What is its Mission?
  3. What are the six sub-committees in "DAC" and list their purpose.

Community Clean Up at Gorge Metro Park
In celebration of Pride Month, join with other like-minded individuals to clean up litter and debris at the Gorge Metro Park. Drop in any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, and pick up litter at your own pace and duration. Meet in the main parking lot, located at 1160 Front Street. Bags and gloves will be provided.

Akron Racers

The Akron Racers are a professional women’s fast-pitch softball team that plays at Firestone Stadium. This year, the Summa Health Foundation and the Akron Racers have teamed up for a revenue share program. During the season, half of the ticket sales from three specific games support the Summa Health Breast Center. The first of three games is June 27.

Summa Health also has a limited number of tickets to giveaway to each of the three games. Each winner will be awarded two tickets.

Ice Cream Social at the Akron Campus

On June 6, the Care Coordination Network hosted an ice cream social at the Akron Campus. The event raised $1,000, which will fund educational programs benefitting hospital staff and Care Coordination Network nursing home staff. A seminar on caring for LGBT patients, as well as a seminar on ethics are planned for this fall.
